Role of fibre in healthy living and eating a balanced diet

Fibre in the diet is very important for good health. This is because of the high nutritive value of fibre. Fibre in one’s diet is very important. Fibre has a lot of benefits for the person. The meal or diet becomes balanced only if there is adequate fibre in the food. Fibre is an integral part of a persons diet and makes a person healthy.

Fibre is mainly present in plant-based foods. Fibre can be found in foods like Pulses namely, Bengal gram, red gram and black gram are very high in fibre content. Eating these kind of fibre rich foods will lead to a healthy living.

There are two types of fibres in the diet. They are soluble or insoluble fibre. Insoluble fibre is found in foods like green leafy vegetables like drumstick leaves and also foods like pulses and nuts. The fibre present in these foods is insoluble in water. Soluble fibre may be found in foods like oatmeal and oat bran. It is also found in certain fruits like apples and also other vegetable. The fibre in these foods is soluble in water.
